ways of being, still explores how contemporary communication moves between the physical and the digital, between presence and distance. In an age when our perception is shaped by rapid changes and a continuous stream of information, this production creates a space in which we are directly confronted with this fragmented reality as a theatrical tool.

Using projected images and physical presence, Ole Kristian Tangen and the dancers take a closer look at how intimacy, vulnerability, playfulness and energetic physicality can be seen from different perspectives.

In chamber play* format, the performers navigate ways to break down the passive presence that can arise when we use contemporary forms of communication, through a stream of personalised content – and create an encounter in which the audience itself must choose, sense and experience.

“At the concert, I find myself being captivated by the massive LED screen, on which what is happening on stage is blown up in huge, ultra-dimensional propositions. The live performers are almost close enough to touch, but it’s the close-up images that capture my attention, over and over again.”

* Chamber play is a format which typically has an intimate, character-driven presentation with only a few roles, often performed in a small space. The set and other special effects tend to be minimal.
