Party: DJ Vika!

Bli med og dans når Polens kuleste bestemor snurrer plater!

VIKA Still3 Pat Mic

Together with Oslo Pix, we invite you to a party with the Warzaw club phenomenon DJ Vika!

The 87-year-old  DJ Vika is a unique and unexpected addition to the Polish club scene. She has gained a lot of attention both nationally and internationally because she began her DJ career at an advanced age (over 70) and has become a symbol of joie de vivre, queerness, energy and that age has no limits. She has been featured on TV programmes, played at major clubs and festivals, and gained a strong following worldwide.

On the same evening, we will be showing the documentary film about the life of DJ Vika. More information about this film here.

Bio:
DJ Vika worked as a teacher and director of a youth-orientated improvement home. After her retirement, Vika flourished as an activist and organiser for seniors. She started with dance events in clubs for the elderly, and made her debut as a DJ in 2000 at the Bolek pub in Warsaw. Since then, she has played at everything from international music festivals and clubs to senior centres, kindergartens and youth clubs, charming audiences with everything from pop classics to house, electro and disco polo.

Vika has initiated senior parades, major intergenerational events, travelling and festivals. In 2013, she organised the first Senior Parade with around 14,000 participants in Warsaw, inspired by pride parades. She also supports gender equality, LGBTQ rights and inclusive communities.

The documentary film Vika! (directed by Agnieszka Zwiefka) from 2023 follows her for several years - from concert life to personal reflections on life, family life, health and the meaning of active ageing.
